FAQ

This archive contains a consolidation of some of our most frequently asked questions.

-Do you ship to other countries outside of the United States? Do you process non-US credit cards?

No. We currently only ship product in the United States, and process United States credit cards only. If you are located outside of the U.S. (i.e. Canada) and would like to purchase from our company and have the items shipped within the United States, you will need to use PayPal as your payment method.

-Are you a Parts Unlimited dealership? I want to take advantage of ongoing promotions with Metzeler and Pirelli.

-The only US distributor of Metzeler and Pirelli is Parts Unlimited.  We are definitely a Parts dealership since we carry these lines.  If you'd like to confirm this for yourself please visit either Pirelli's website or Parts Unlimited's website and do a dealer search using our zip of 85260.  Here you'll find Edge II Edge which is our parent company.  Please confirm the physical address against that listed in our contact page.

We are currently leaving all Parts Unlimited sleeves on tires purchased from us and not putting our own part numbers on the tires as an added step.

-Why should I buy from you?

-Easy, we are the best.  Aggressive pricing, rapid shipment, in-house order processing (keeping you info confidential), and rapid communication with our customers is what we do.  We don't keep tabs on our competitors , but a good clue was winning the Metzeler ME880 competition last year in which all Metzeler dealers across the US were involved.  The numbers were tallied by Metzeler and we came out on top thanks to you.  Considering we sold more than just Metzeler it was a pretty good gauge on our progress and overall standing in the industry.

-Why have you discontinued your phone service?

We have been operating this way for several years with great success! Here are a few reasons why:

-Oil prices.  The tires that we sell are manufactured using petroleum as a raw material.  Over the course of the past year our cost to purchase tires has increased anywhere between 2-8% depending on the manufacturer.  We expect them to increase dramatically once again this year as new part numbers are issued to us.  This usually occurs between mid February-March.  As the cost of raw materials has gone up, the manufacturers have passed on the additional manufacturing costs to us.

Our prices have not changed significantly over the past year.  The way that we were able to prevent dramatic price increases was to make cuts elsewhere.  A major cut was the discontinuation of our toll free line.  Being an internet based business, we have found that email is the best method for communication.  It is free, rapid, and allows the customer (and us in turn) to be very precise in what we are communicating.  An email also provides a permanent record which cannot be argued over since both parties can clearly read what was stated.  It also serves as a very valuable reference on technical questions since it can be saved and used indefinitely.

We have redistributed phone staff onto email  and shipping duty depending on their preference and performance.  We will respond to all emails promptly - give it a shot!

-What will you do with my information after my order is processed?

--We keep a record of your order on file in order to assist with any inquiries on your order and for our record keeping.  We never share your personal information with parties other than those necessary to fill and ship your order.  We will never email you regarding upcoming promotions or share your information with others.  Promotional emailing is a very widespread business practice (be very careful examining a website's Privacy page).  Our business practices do not involve sending you emails of any sort other than those necessary to update you on your order status.  We believe strongly that providing you with what you've ordered quickly and inexpensively is the best insurance that you'll return back to us in the future.  Junk email won't do us any good if you are dissatisfied, and we hope that providing you with great service is all the reminder you'll need to come back to us time and time again.

--Again, expect to receive several emails (including tracking) to update you on your order.  You won't hear from us again until your next order.

-Would you be willing to match a competitor's price?

--Unfortunately, we don't price match.  We invest alot of time coming up with the pricing displayed on our website.  It is the bare minimum necessary in order to provide you with an extremely competitive price while assuring that we continue to stay in business over the long haul.  Look at the total out the door cost.  Generally speaking, the time invested by the customer in phoning in competitor's pricing, providing verification, and waiting for a credit far outweighs the dollar or two that they stand to gain through the exercise.

There is a more profound reason that we do not price match.  We follow the Golden Rule in not price matching others since we don't like it when competitors do it to us.  We have done the math and come up with a pricing strategy that stays consistent with our goals.  Our competitors who run "full retail" and then beat a competing price (sometimes by as little as a buck!) are basically preying on those who haven't done their research, undermine competitors such as ourselves who price aggressively, and ultimately add insult to injury  by making the customer jump through numerous hoops.  Depending on how the customer values their time this generally means that they lost money on the deal overall.

-The vast majority of orders ship within 1 business day, how do I know if my order will not?

- If your order will take longer than 3 business days to ship, we will contact you promptly with the details.  We will never backorder an item or cancel your order without notification to you regarding the status.  Prompt and exact communication with our customers is the reason why we are the best at we do, and the best insurance that you'll come back to us again in the future.

-How many locations do you have?  Your competitor has many throughout the country.

--We have one location in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Our contact information can be found in the "Contact" section of our website.  All shipments will originate from this location, and we do charge sales tax to AZ residents.  Be extremely cautious with competitors claiming to have warehouses in states where sales tax is not assessed.  This means that they are using a distributor's warehouse to drop-ship your items (see previous question).  If they have a business presence in that state, sales tax must be assessed.  Beware.

-How many tires do you have in stock?  You competitor claims to have over 10,000 in stock.

--We control our inventory very closely.  Popular tires are stocked in large numbers.  Less popular tires are stocked in smaller numbers.  If we are ever out of the tire or accessory that you ordered, we will notify you promptly if the item(s) are not listed as "out of stock" on our website already.  We will then order it from a distributor and have it arrive to our location first for inspection prior to shipping.  We'll never drop-ship the item directly from a distributor's location to you.  If we have to make up for lost time we'd rather send the item using Air at our expense rather than drop-ship it.

10,000 tires is an incredible amount to say the least.  One of the thinnest tires that we sell is the Dunlop Qualifier 120/70ZR-17.  It is approximately 5 inches wide (and 23 inches in diameter) prior to being mounted.  To illustrate - stacked side by side 10,000 tires are the equivalent of approximately 13 football fields in length.  Granted, you could stack or rearrange the tires in many ways to conserve space - but the amount of storage area required to house, sort, and inventory this number of tires is well beyond the scope of any retailer and most distributors.  Period.

-Are the tires you sell new, unblemished, etc.? Then why are they so cheap?

-Yes.  Absolutely - they are.  We always leave our distributor's and manufacturer's tag attached to the tire to allow the customer to confirm for themselves.  They do not sell anything but new tires - neither do we.  There is only one tire brand that is offered as a retread design.  We have never and will never carry that particular brand of tire.

We buy in bulk throughout the year (on and off season), and use this buying power as a leveraging tool in terms of the dealer price we are willing to pay.  Lower prices for us are translated into larger savings for the customer.
